Fight

Are you in a funk? We all have days where nothing seems to go right, but sometimes those days combine and multiply to create a season of struggle.

Do you feel like the simplest things take an extreme amount of effort to accomplish? These times of our lives wear us down and we begin to view our surroundings through a lens of discomfort.

It is at times like this that even good things that happen are tainted by the funk.

It’s time to fight back. Here are 3 ways you can fight the funk you are in.

Comprehend the future joy principle

“… Weeping may last for the night, But a shout of joy comes in the morning.” Psalms‬ ‭30:5‬b ‭NASB‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Suffering by nature is temporary. It doesn’t seem that way when you’re in the middle of it, but it will pass. Joy is always right on the horizon.

Even if it is an issue that lasts a lifetime, that is still an incredibly small portion of your existence compared with eternity.

A vast majority of who you are will be lived on the other side of this life. As you follow Christ, you will have victory. Joy is coming.

Chase after Purity

“Many are the sorrows of the wicked, But he who trusts in the LORD, lovingkindness shall surround him. Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, you righteous ones; And shout for joy, all you who are upright in heart.” Psalms‬ ‭32:10-11‬ ‭NASB‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

There is a joy that comes from the pursuit of purity. Having a restored relationship with God through Christ gives you the opportunity to share in His gladness.

Choose words that build

“But no one can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil and full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God; from the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be this way.” James‬ ‭3:8-10‬ ‭NASB‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Words are incredibly important. Be intentional about what you say. Use language that lifts you up and then invest those same words into building others up also.

You will build joy when you become a constructive force in someone else’s life. Negativity will try to rob that joy from you, so be vigilant about the way you use your words.

Fight the funk. Find joy.
